Description

May Lee changes her stances, to either Standard Mode (かま変更へんこう (スタンダード⇒ヒーロー)) or Hero Mode (かま変更へんこう (ヒーロー⇒スタンダード)).

Strategy

Posture Shift is May Lee's defining move, as it allows you to essentially play as two different characters with different playstyles.

"'Standard Mode" utilizes her Ryuubi Kyaku Rekka kicks, as well of its follow-up attacks; in KOF 2001, her rekkas are unique as it allow her to chain most of her Special Moves in a non-linear 3 part order, such as ①⇒②⇒③, ①⇒③⇒②, ②⇒①⇒③ or ②⇒③⇒①. Starting with KOF 2002, her Rekkas become much more linear, but at the same time more dynamic, allowing for different routes and approaches. She also has a counter, which can be used to predict incoming attacks.

"Hero Mode" is much more offensive than her Standard Mode. This form utilizes more forceful attacks and even gains a command grab. However, she cannot block while in this Mode, and getting hit once switches her back to Standard Mode. While she does have fewer defensive options in this Mode, she does receive a Command Move parry that can block incoming attacks.

Similar to MAX Mode, Posture Shift can be activated during the middle of a combo but can only activate during certain attacks. For Standard Mode, it can be activated during her Dragon Tail Kick rekkas except for Sun Rise Kick and Sun Set Kick. For Hero Mode, it can only be activated during Full Swing Chop.

Activating Posture Shift can be difficult, since it requires to press three buttons at the same time and doing it during a combo can easily make you drop your combo. However, this can be passed by using a micro for Roll and pressing , or setting a micro for in KOF 2002 UM.
