Overhead Kick

Overhead Kick (オーバーヘッドキック) is Rock Howard's T.O.P. Attack in Garou: Mark of the Wolves, which would go on to be a Special Move in The King of Fighters series, starting with The King of Fighters XV.

It returns to its original function in Fatal Fury: City of the Wolves, serving as Rock's REV Blow while on the ground.

Description

Rock performs a rear-face-away back flip kick to spike down on his foe from above, which hits overhead.

Strategy

Garou MOTW

Overhead Kick can be used to go over some projectiles such as B. Jenet's Baffrass or Hotaru's Hakki Shou. It can also be used as an optimal meterless follow-up to his Shinkuu Nage break midscreen. Aside from that, you really should not use Overhead Kick outside of those situations because the move has very slow startup and is very unsafe on block.

KOF XV

Overhead Kick makes a return as one of Rock's Special Moves. Both the and versions will go over most projectiles if timed right, with the version being a fast practical combo tool and the version being the slower and-only overhead-hitting option mainly for wake-up meaties or upon conditioning. Either version can be newly performed off of his Rage Run.

While the version is the strongest is the faster of the 2 versions, it is harder to use compared to / versions to call out aerial projectiles with, and has to be on reaction. Even then, said version is a solid combo tool for its ground bounce hit effect.
