Hein is a person with a past shrouded in mystery. He seems to have a connection with Luong. Prior to KOF XIV, he was hired as Geese Howard's butler.

The King of Fighters XIV
After many years of absence from the King of Fighters tournaments, Geese decides to form his own team and has Hein join and Billy Kane in order to investigate the Jin scrolls' prophecy regarding Verse. This surpries Billy, as he asks Geese if Hein is up to the task, to which Geese ignores him. Billy does not trust Hein at all, as he feels Hein as very suspicious and all-knowing about certain events, despite being the "new guy".[1]
After the tournament, Geese later revealed that he has not unlocked the secrets of the Jin scrolls yet, but they prophesied the events within the story (Verse's appearance and warriors thought to be lost coming back to life), which is the reason why he entered the tournament. Suddenly, they are attacked by Mr. Big's mafia, who seems to have it out for Geese. Billy and Hein teams up to get rid of them.
The King of Fighters XV
Hein meets up with Luong in a bar, who give her a tip about some undisclosed information.[2] It is later revealed that Hein may have taken his job in Howard Connection as a means to get closer to Geese Howard and eliminate him. Geese and his entire connection are currently unaware of Hein's plans to destroy them, or so it seems.
At the climax of the tournament, Geese reveals he knew of Hein's plans all along and played along to entertain himself. Unfortunately, the artifact Hein obtained from Luong did not help him, and thus had to bail with an unexpected accomplice: Ryuji Yamazaki.
