"Battleship" is a Smosh video released on February 8, 2006.
Description
A short story of two very bored friends who resort to playing Battleship.
Synopsis
Ian and Anthony are sitting in Anthony's bedroom, playing Battleship. After a while of dull misses from Ian, Anthony hits Ian's last ship, prompting Ian to fly into a fit of rage. He slaps Anthony with his Battleship board and proceeds to beat him with a cardboard tube. Anthony defends himself by kicking Ian in the balls and then crawls to the door. Ian regains himself and pulls a gun out of the back of his shirt. He shoots Anthony multiple times while shouting, "Die!" The camera then pans over the game pieces strewn on the floor and ends at Anthony's dead body. Ian, looking over his work, asks "Best two out of three?"
Trivia
- This is Smosh's first comedy sketch.
- This is Smosh's first ever YouTube short, the second being the first out of their series of videos called "Smosh Shorts".
- This is the first video to depict Ian's short temper over games, later shown in the 2010 video "LIZARD RABIES!".
- This is also the first of many videos ending in Ian or a character played by Ian shooting Anthony to death with a gun, which would later become a running gag with Ian's character Sergeant Anous.
- The gun Ian was shooting with had an orange tip, meaning that it is a toy gun
- Ian had all of his ships beside one another and in one corner, which made it easier for Anthony to win the game.
- Meanwhile, Ian attacked Anthony's board in the pattern of a smiley face, with none of the coordinates matching the location of Anthony's ships (indicated by every single piece represented as a miss).
- The second song featured in the video was audio swapped in later years.
