Weather is a mechanic introduced in Cities: Skylines Snowfall. Cities will be able to have weather systems that can impact the daily lives of the citizens. During cold weather, the demand for electricity increases as more citizens seek for warmth; alternatively, water-based heating supplies can be used to meet such demands. Snowplow services are able to plow through snow on the roads in order to maintain and keep traffic flowing.
Rain and fog have been introduced in a free content update. Snowfall will be introduced alongside its corresponding expansion pack.[1]
Rain and fog can have an impact on electricity production. When it rains, the output of Solar power plants go down, but the output of Wind turbines go up. When it is foggy, the output of both Solar power plants and wind turbines go down. Players that have weather enabled therefore need to consider carefully where they generate their electricity from to avoid power outages when there is fog.
