Warderer is the king of Iom who leads the battle against Cypress for his god Iom. After the fall of Woldol, he captures the king of Emild and ritual sacrifices him at the Shrine to resurrect Woldol as Death Woldol. He sends his generals Gordon, Solo and Barbara to try to get the [[[Sword of Hajya]] in his quest to resurrect Iom. His forces successfully capture Prince Nick and they try to get to the Shrine to ritual sacrifice him to Iom. One by one his generals fall but he had been aware of a traitor in his ranks. At the Shrine he revealed to his servant Hindel that he knew Hindel was the traitor and beats on him while telling him off for betraying him after raising and protecting him. When one of his Bishops suggests executing Hindel, he rejects the offer as he wants Hindel to suffer for his crimes. When he is about to ritual sacrifice the Prince the Shining Force arrives and battles him. After being beat down, he vanishes but reappears and tries to ritual sacrifice Nick. Hindel stops him and Nick's arm is restored back to flesh from stone. In a last ditch effort he sacrifices Hindel and jumps into the lava to revive Iom. After the Shining Force beats back Iom, Iom's power leaves him and Iom takes him to Hades with him as he sinks into the lava.
