Summary

Carrying a bucket while her little lamb goes on ahead, Shenhua recites the poem of the traveler from another land. She's soon met by Mingyang, but she ignores him in their initial encounter, but they talk by the well about the poem she recites. Mingyang happens to know of it and Shenhua asks him who the person the poem mentions is as the kids are curious who it is. Although Mingyang doesn't know who it is, he claims that the person must be really weird and then changes the subject about a night festival happening in another village soon. He invites her to round some people to join him, however, she gives him no response.

At the MJQ Jazz Bar, the leader of the Mad Angels Terry Ryan is informed by two of his goons how Charlie was taken out by Ryo. Walking the shopping district of Dobuita, Ryo recalls the advice that Yamagishi gave him about finding a store that can help him translate the text to his father's letter. Arriving at the Russiya China Shop, Ryo notices that the store is closed, and the boy named Gaowen Xie that he helped retrieve his soccer ball. Gaowen thanks him for helping him the other day, but then asks him why he's at his house. The boy then lets him inside and introduces Ryo to his grandmother who after looking at his letter claims that its text is "Mirror letters". Using a mirror to reflect the text, the grandmother translates the letter which warns that people are after the two mirror pieces and to seek out Master Chen's help. She also translates the text on the back, which doesn't make any sense to her, but also gives her a phone number written in old script. Afterward, Ryo dials the number from a phone at a tobacco shop and using the words matching the letter that she got from the back of his father's letter is told to meet someone at Warehouse 8. Despite not knowing where the place is, the lady at the shop suggests contacting the 104 operator helpline to find where the number is from.

Eventually, Ryo takes a bus to the New Yokosuka Harbor District where the number was traced to. It's there that Ryo stops a mugging in process from three thugs, the leader of the group, Goro Mihashi confronts Ryo and is beaten by him. With their boss beaten, Goro's followers scram and Ryo learns from him the location of Warehouse 8 and that most security guards are off duty at 7 pm.

That night, Ryo sneaks past the guard post station, but is still apprehended by an unknown assailant. Finally uncovered, Ryo finds himself in a warehouse filled with Chinese Antiques and is met by Master Chen and his son Guizhang Chen who has his men untie Ryo. Master Chen asks Ryo if he was the one who contacted him earlier and Ryo confirms it while introducing himself and showing the letter his father received from Yuanda Zhu. After reading the letter, Master Chen informs Ryo about his relationship with Yuanada and how a precious mirror was transported across the Chinese Borders by a Japanese man. As it turns out, Yuanda facilitated the entire process. Connecting the dots, Ryo figures that the mirror must be the same one that Lan Di stole from his father. Master Chen then reveals that Lan Di is a high-ranking member of the Chi You Men. Meanwhile, Lan Di and his men interrogated a man at a place called Xuhe Hall about the mirror. The interrogated man reveals that the Japanese man had an accomplice when he smuggled the mirror and that his name was Yuanda Zhu. Back to the warehouse, Guizhang mentions a Phoenix Mirror to Master Chen, which confuses Ryo as the one Lan Di stole was the Dragon Mirror. Since Lan Di is most likely after the Phoenix Mirror as well, Ryo resolves himself to find it first and later leaves the harbor. Back in the warehouse, Guizhang notes his disdain for helping Ryo as it'd attract attention from the Mad Angels and the Chi You Men. However, Master Chen tells Guizhang to don't bother worrying over it and it's also revealed that Guizhang is also his son. Master Chen also gives Guizhang an assignment.

The next day, Ryo rummages through his father's room for clues about the mirror, but finds nothing, and later he searches the dojo, but hurts himself in the process. Ine-san and Fuku-san then help him, and although they have no information on the mirror, Ine-san says that his father visited an antique dealer days before he died to give him something. Afterward, Ryo visits Keizo Oishi's store and learns the item that his father left was the family crest. Disappointed that it wasn't the mirror that Master Chen mentioned, Keizo asks Ryo if he meant Yaowen Chen of the Jiu Feng Company. Ryo confirms it and Keizo elaborates on the company's backstory and warns Ryo not to involve himself with them.

On his way home, Ryo is attacked by Guizhang as a test and informs him that Master Chen has given him the assignment of being his bodyguard. As to why Guizhang was assigned to be his bodyguard is because Lan Di will stop at nothing to retrieve the Phoenix Mirror. Unbeknownst to the two, they were being carefully watched by Chai. Later, Ryo runs into Nozomi and Mai by Aida Flower Shop. He asks the two where they'd hide a mirror and Nozomi mentions a secret room. Mai then leaves and with her out of the picture, Nozomi asks Ryo for advice sometime about the future.

Afterward, Ryo trains with Fuku-san and after this, they clean the dojo. Fuku-san compliments Ryo's improved skill, but Ryo denies ever being any better than Lan Di or the other that he's encountered thus far. It's then that Fuku-san notes two slots that are each behind a scroll. Getting an epiphany, Ryo uses the crest he got from Keizo's shop and his father's sword on the two slots. This opens a hidden door leading to a ladder going underground. In the room below, Ryo finds the Phoenix mirror and the reflection of the jewel on the mirror's back reveals a photo of his father and someone else from Bailu Village. Later, Ryo shows the mirror to Master Chen and Guizhang at the warehouse and learns more about the history of the mirrors that'll resurrect a being known as Chi You. It is a legendary creature known to devour worlds. Out of nowhere, Chai ambushes the group and manages to steal the mirror, but is unable to escape with it due to quick thinking from Master Chen. Chai was believed to be a member of either the Chi You Men or the Mad Angels. Ryo then asks if he can locate Lan Di through the Mad Angels to whom, was planning on leaving Japan at that time. Wanting to know where Lan Di would go next, Master Chen answers Hong Kong, and Ryo plans to follow suit. On the other hand, Master Chen refuses to help Ryo as it'd mean he'd delve into the underworld and get himself killed. However, Ryo still plans to find a way to get to Hong Kong even if it means stepping on the toes of those in the underworld. Lan Di is shown riding a speed boat heading toward a larger boat while thinking that everything lies with Yuanda Zhu.
