Atalante

Atalante (アタランテ Atarante?) is a Treasure Tool in the form of golden bracelet and possessed by Ukobach.[1]

When blown with an amount of the Power of Existence, Atalante creates bubble-like barriers to capture targets.[1][2] The bubble's size are generated in accordance with the amount and intensity of the Power of Existence out into it. They can entrap anyone who comes into contact with them.

The humans captured by Atalante will be shrunk into a smaller size for the user's convenience. They cannot move or think and also do not need to eat. However, these humans will age normally as time passes.

Appearance

It is a Treasure Tool in the form of golden bracelet and it has two crystal-like decorations on it.

Background

Atalante was used for Ukobach's ambition to search for the most perfect form for himself to manifest in this world; he did this by capturing people and locking them inside bubbles. People who were caught in this will not die or get hungry but instead aged normally. It was once used to trap an American man whom Ukobach eventually released after ten years and he found the man too old; Ukobach made him a Torch and threw him out at Yosegi City in Japan.

The Flame Haze of the Nietono no Shana visited Yosegi City, encountered this incident, and decided to investigate by using the identity of a Torch named Junko Ōgami. Junko's boyfriend, Yukio Hamaguchi, became the latest victim of Ukobach's Atalante and was trapped inside the bubble. The Girl pursued the Crimson Denizen who fled in a trailer with the Fūzetsu activated. Ukobach used bubbles generated by Atalante to attack the Girl, but his attack was ineffective due to her sword's property. The Girl easily destroyed Ukobach. Yukio and other victims inside bubbles were later rescued.

Atalante was not destroyed in the fight[3] and dropped on trailer's floor; its whereabouts afterward remained unknown.

She is primarily noted for her skill in the footrace which she has used as a condition to accept marriage only if a suitor could outrun her. She had killed many suitors until Hippomenes, who gained help from the goddess Aphrodite, used three irresistible golden apples to divert Atalanta off the path by tossing apples for her to retrieve everytime she outran him. In the end, she lost the race and had to marry Hippomenes.
