Power Drift

Power Drift is a 1988 arcade racing game, and a 1989 release for home computers developed by Sega.

Gameplay

Players pick their racer and attempt to come in third or better to progress to the next stage. If a player comes in fourth or lower they can still continue but their score will not increase.

There are 25 tracks in total split in to five sets of five. Placing high enough in these sets will allow you access to a bonus track where the care will transform into either the superbike from Super Hang-On or the jet fighter from After Burner II.

Re-releases

Nintendo 3DS version

The Nintendo 3DS stand alone eShop version(exclusive in Japan) has special guest stars from SEGA show up as drivers. They include Alex Kidd, Axel Stone, Adam Hunter, Blaze Fielding, Harrier, Joe Musashi, Centurion from Altered Beast, Galaxy Lady from Galaxy Force, a Dralinflore from Fantasy Zone, Mr. Hang-On from Super Hang-On, Flagman from Out Run and Binsbein from Space Harrier. Trivia

  • The game uses Sega's Sprite Scaler technology to simulate true 3D.
  • The game utilises product placement as there are billboards for Coca-Cola.
  • Ironically, the ability to power drift is not available in this game.
