Dr. Curien is the major antagonist of The House of The Dead series.
Appearance
History
Past
Dr. Curien was once a researcher at DBR Corporation, and praised for his aggressive leadership that lead to the creation of the BioReactor, a machine capable of rewriting genetic code.
However as his beloved son, Daniel Curien was discovered to be suffering from an incurable fatal disease, Dr. Curien began to become desperate, frantically researching a way to remove the barriers between life and death in order to save Daniel, and driving himself to the brink of insanity as he did so.
His research eventually paid off, having managed to create three gene samples, one of which saved Daniel's life. This should have been a happy momentus occasion, but Curien's mind had snapped, and he soon began to use the BioReactor to create strange monsters with the intent of wiping out humanity.
The House of the Dead
In 1998, AMS agent Thomas Rogan and his partner, G, infiltrated Curien's mansion after recieving a panicked phone call from Thomas' fiancee and Curien's assistant, Sophie Richards. When they arrived they discovered the place was over ran by Curien's creatures which he had released to slaughter his co-workers. Eventually Rogan and G fought their way to Dr. Curien, who was in his underground laboratory.
To combat the two AMS agents, Curien released the second gene he had created in his pursuit to cure Daniel, nicknamed 'Magician' to attack them. However Magician was reprogrammed by an unknown force to not obey Curien, and turned on him, killing the scientist with a fireball. Curien dies wondering why Magician didn't follow his instructions.
The House of the Dead III
That should have been the end for Dr. Curien, however his corpse was instead taken to the EFI Research Center, where using the third gene he had discovered in his quest to save his son, he began a 19 year resurrection process, being reborn as The Wheel of Fate. He is released by Daniel Curien, who teams up with Lisa Rogan in order to kill him, feeling that he is responsible for the destruction of the world at his father's hands.

Sega Heroes
In Sega Heroes, Dr. Curien is a playable red epic hero who was added on February 12, 2019. He summons forth his spider-like creation, Hermit, Bio-Reactor and Murrers, sharp-toothed creatures, to attack his foes. He has the following gameplay characteristics:

Trivia
- When downed in Sega Heroes, he adopts the same pose as his death animation in The House of the Dead.
- In Loving Deads: The House of the Dead EX, Dr. Curien reveals that Zobiko is an imitation of his former lover, Zobiette. However when Zobiko refuses to listen and obey his command, he imprisons her.
- Dr. Curien's lines as the Wheel of Fate imply that he wishes to erase some of humanity due to the overpopulation of the planet.
