Mark Burg

Mark Burg (born December 9, 1959) is an American film producer and actor best known for his work on the Saw franchise and the CBS sitcom Two and a Half Men.

He was one of the producers of Saw, Saw II, Saw III, Saw IV, Saw V, Saw VI, Saw 3D, Jigsaw, Spiral, and Saw X.

Career

Mark Burg was born in Hartsdale, New York. In the early 1990s, he was the president of Island Pictures and produced many films, such as Basketball Diaries, The Sandlot, The Cure, and Strictly Business, in which he gave Halle Berry her first leading role. In the late 1990s, Burg founded Evolution Entertainment alongside his business partner, Oren Koules. The company produces film and television and manages writers, directors, and actors.

In 2004, along with Koules and the late Gregg Hoffman, he created the production company Twisted Pictures, which mainly focuses on developing and producing horror films. Burg personally financed the Saw films' production with his partner, Koules. It paid off, resulting in him becoming a multi-millionaire. He has received a ShoWest Award and several People's Choice Awards and had a place in the Guinness Book of World Records for the Most Successful Horror Movie Franchise. In addition, he was nominated for three Emmy Awards and received multiple awards for previous films.

Trivia

  • Initially, Mark Burg was supposed to make a cameo appearance as the train conductor in Spiral. However, actor Jerry Getty eventually played that role.
  • Likewise, Mark Burg's son, James Burg, was supposed to have a cameo appearance in Saw X but ultimately was not seen in the movie. Nonetheless, he was listed in the credits.
