Gorgyra

The Sun and the Star: A Nico di Angelo Adventure

Screech-Bling and Hiss-Majesty lead Nico di Angelo and Will Solace to the River Acheron, their shortcut into Tartarus, and suggest that the demigods seek the help of Gorgyra and her canoe to safely travel the river. Gorgyra agrees to help in exchange for Nico and Will telling her their story which they do at first hesitantly, but then with more eagerness as they find Gorgyra to an eager and honest listener who enjoys their stories and doesn't judge them for being LGBTQ+. Sharing stories with Gorgyra helps to strengthen the demigods as they prepare to go into Tartarus and she happily gives Nico and Will her canoe once they're done, stating that it will make its way back to her after the demigods are done with it as the Acheron circles back to the Underworld rather than one-directional like the other rivers.

Gorgyra's Canoe ends up playing a pivotal role in Nico and Will's quest, providing them with transportation into, through and out of Tartarus and back to Camp Half-Blood after they succeed in rescuing Bob. The canoe drifts away once they reach camp, worrying the two that Gorgyra will be mad that they lost it. However, Bob is certain that the canoe will find its own way back to Gorgyra.

Appearance

Gorgyra is a nymph with blonde hair and blue eyes. She wears a dress made out of souls that are collected from the River Acheron and reach out to you. Her skin color fades from pale blue to a light lilac, and it most likely changes depending on her mood or thoughts. Nico notes the changes in her skin color after Will and him share their stories with her.

Personality

Gorgyra is obsessed with romance and drama, to the point of taking prisoners to entertain her. However, she's not malicious in her intentions, genuinely enjoying the stories that Nico di Angelo and Will Solace tell her and making her gown out of lost souls to help them as a way of honoring her husband, the god Acheron. Indeed, Gorgyra making Nico and Will tell her stories helped to strengthen them for their journey which was another reason that she did it to the point that the two demigods kept sharing more and more stories with her out of their own free will, finding Gorgyra to be an earnest and honest listener who didn't judge them.

Trivia
