Cleopatra VII Philopator (“Cleopatra the Father-Loving Goddess”, 69—10 August 30 BC) was the last pharaoh of Ancient Egypt, reigning as the last sovereign ruler of the Ptolemaic Dynasty from 51 BC until her death in 30 BC.
History
Cleopatra was born to Ptolemy XII Auletes and an unknown mother. When Julius Caesar arrived in Egypt, the two formed a relationship that resulted in a son named Caesarion. She thought Caesar would make their son his heir, as he was his father’s only son, but he named his great nephew Octavian as his successor instead. Soon after her son’s birth, the mother and son became the hosts of Isis and Horus respectfully.
The Romans eventually started a war to conquer Egypt and things went bad for the Egyptians, when the capital was on the verge of falling to the Romans, she committed suicide by having an asp bit her.
