Krog was an individual of the Ape-men tribe.
Appearance
Krog has a large, muscular body, black fur, grey skin, and brown eyes. He wore a necklace made of several pointed teeth on a string.
After drinking the black liquid offered to him by the Ape Shaman, Krog became much larger than Fang herself. His canine teeth grew longer and sharper, and his eyes became blood-red with tiny, light red pupils, giving him a more menacing appearance. His skin turned green, and his muscles expanded significantly; his head seemed to remain the same size, making it appear proportionately smaller compared to his body. He also donned the skull of a Triceratops as a helmet when battling Fang.
Personality
Krog has a stern, stoic demeanor that gives way to a ruthless bloodlust in the heat of battle. Despite this, he remains an efficient combatant, leaving one of his opponents alive after breaking their arm instead of finishing them off. He seems to enjoy either killing or power, as he was briefly shown licking his lips before taking the black liquid and battling Fang. As with his fellow champions, he unquestioningly defers to the Ape Shaman during their combat ritual, although it is unclear if he is fighting for himself or representing a specific tribe or faction within the Ape-men's society.
After drinking the black liquid, Krog's stone-faced exterior is replaced with feral rage, reducing him to a violent beast with a strong desire to kill without thought or reason. Regardless, he seems to retain his loyalty to the Ape Shaman; he noticeably delayed his finishing blow on Fang, as if waiting for his superior's command.
Abilities
- Strength: Krog had significant physical strength, being able to break bones and crush skulls of his similarly-sized ape competitors during their ritual combat; the giant ape proved more resilient, but still fell under repeated blows once Krog immobilized him. After drinking the black liquid, Krog became strong enough to make craters in solid stone with his punches; in his battle with Fang, he sent her flying with his blows and even picked her up with ease.
- Resilience: Krog was able to easily take blows from his ape opponents with no lasting damage; even being tossed across the arena by the largest challenger barely kept him down for a second. His mutated form barely reacted to Fang ripping a chunk of flesh from his arm and only briefly reeled in pain when Spear punched him in the eye; he even endured a punch from Spear's ooze-enhanced form that sent him flying across the arena. It also took Spear noticeable effort to rip Krog's arms off and numerous blows with them to bludgeon him to death.
- Fighting Skill: In addition to his physicality, Krog was skilled enough to exploit his opponents' weaknesses in combat, such as tanking a blow to the face in order to grab and break the attacker's arm, flipping onto his hands mid-battle to kick an opponent, or sliding under a charging giant in order to jump on their back and use the leverage to throw them to the ground. Even his rage-fueled mutant form retained some of his skills, using all four limbs to brace himself on the ground for a powerful headbutt and grabbing Fang's tail swipe to stop her from fleeing while he broke her leg.
History
Nothing is known about Krog's past, but he seems to have been raised or trained as one of the elite warriors of the Ape-Men for the purpose of ritual combat. He was first seen arriving in the Ape-Man arena alongside four other gorilla fighters, with the Ape Shaman ordering them to fight for the right to kill Spear and Fang. Krog and the other champions took their places around the circle drawn by the Shaman, waiting for their signal to begin the fight.
When the brawl began, Krog quickly pummeled one of his opponents, temporarily taking them out of the fight while he turned his attention to another gorilla. He took a palm strike to the face but used the opportunity to grab his attacker's arm under his own and break it with his free hand, scoring the first elimination of the fight. Krog then returned his attention to the first gorilla he attacked, exchanging some blows before knocking him down and crushing him to death with his fists; afterwards, he faced off with the final competitor, a massive gorilla who had easily killed their other opponent. Using his smaller size to his advantage, Krog leapt onto the giant's face and delivered several strikes before being tossed away; he quickly recovered and slid under his charging opponent to jump onto his back, throwing him to the floor and beating him to death.
As the victor of the fight, Krog chose a Triceratops skull as a helmet for his coming fight against Fang, then crouched before the Ape Shaman's perch to receive a single drop of a mysterious black liquid. After drinking the liquid, he transformed into a gigantic, monstrous ape that easily stopped Fang's initial attack with a simple swipe. Donning his skull helmet, Krog proceeded to mercilessly beat Fang, shrugging off a bite to the arm before breaking her right leg and throwing her to the ground with enough force to leave her unconscious and on the brink of death.
Before Krog could finish Fang off, he was attacked by Spear, who broke his bonds and punched the mutated gorilla in the eye. Krog briefly roared in pain before grabbing Spear and throwing him across the arena, subsequently returning his attention to Fang as he raised his arms to crush her. However, he was once again distracted by Spear, who had climbed to the Ape Shaman's podium, thrown them to their death, and begun drinking the entire bowl of black liquid as the lesser Ape-Men tried in vain to stop him before the transformation took hold.
When Spear mutated into a massive beast-man and leaped back into the arena, Krog roared at him and rushed to meet him in combat. He landed several powerful blows in succession, but they only seemed to anger Spear as he retaliated with a singular strike that knocked the skull helmet from Krog's head as he went flying across the arena. Undeterred, Krog immediately charged back into battle, but Spear grabbed his arms and brutally ripped them from their sockets; Krog could only roar in pain and impotent rage before Spear relentlessly beat him to a pulp with his own severed arms. The assault reduced the Ape-Men's champion to a mangled torso with his skull bashed apart amid a pool of his own blood; this enraged the other Ape-Men to swarm Spear, only to be massacred in turn. Trivia
- So far, Krog has come closer than any other Primal antagonist to killing Fang, having injured her to the point where she would need an entire episode to recover.
