Ape Shaman

The mysterious shaman was the leader or a representative of the Ape-men tribe.

Appearance

The shaman appears to be a slim, chimpanzee-like ape-men with fur that was more scraggly than the others, and whose face had noticeable wrinkles due to his age. The shaman was the only one of his species to wear full-body clothing, consisting of a dark robe with a red shawl, leopard headdress, and a tiger fur skirt. He also wore an assortment of bone jewelry and carried a long wooden staff.

Personality

The shaman displayed a stoic, serious personality; when not communicating with the typical screeches and hoots of his kind, he typically regarded events with a small scowl. Judging by body language, he oversaw the Ape-men's ritual combat with stern gravitas, notably pausing before and after each event as if to ensure that the participants are compliant before proceeding. The only time he lost his composure was when he was ambushed by Spear and thrown to his demise.

History

The Ape Shaman's past is unknown, other than the fact that he was either the leader of his tribe or simply just a shaman. He first appeared in overlooking the arena where the Ape-man gladiators have gathered. The shaman then tells the warriors to fight to the death, with the winner earning the honor to kill Spear and Fang. He then pounds his staff to begin the tournament, letting the Ape-man gladiators fight.

After the last gladiator, Krog, wins the tournament, the shaman releases Fang and pours a sip of a mysterious black liquid through a narrow line into Krog's mouth, which transforms him into a monstrous form. Adorning a Triceratops skull as a helmet, Krog proceeds to mercilessly and savagely beat Fang to the brink of death.

After Spear breaks free from his bondage and is outmatched by Krog, he runs to and climbs the pillar that the black liquid is stored upon. After Spear makes it to the top, the shaman tries to attack him but is thrown off the pillar to his death, making the spectators shocked and angered. ("Rage of the Ape-Men")
