Let it shine! PRCS, hello, we are PRECIOUS!
PRECIOUS (Hangul: 프레셔스; also known as PRCS) was a girl group under UMI Entertainment. Their original and most known lineup consisted of five members, EunB, JiHyo, HanWoom, LeeSoo, and HanByeol. The last lineup consisted of EunB, HanWoom, and Min. They made their debut on September 23rd, 2020 with the digital single album Let it Shine!.
History
2020: Pre-debut and debut
On June 4, 2020 the official YouTube channel of the group uploaded its first video showing the girls covering BTS' song "Boy In Luv".
The group debuted on September 23, 2020 with their first digital single album, Let it Shine!. The music video for its title track, BEBE, was released the next day, on September 24th.
The group opened its Pocketdols channels on October 27, 2020.
The group's first subunit, PRECIOUS (EunB & JiHyo & LeeSoo), released an original soundtrack for the drama My Wonderful Life on December 18, 2020.
2021: Concerts, Everything will be OK, LeeSoo's and HanByeol's hiatuses
The group performed as part of K-STAGE UNTACT's Rookie Showcase on March 28, 2021.
On April 11, 2021, the group held a concert titled "PRECIOUS X VIETNAM". The concert was streamed online only due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
In June 18, 2021, the group released a special performance video for their song Don't Be Afraid, a b-side track from their debut single album.
On July 2nd, the group participated in an online concert for K-pop fans from Bangladesh. The concert was titled "Showcase Korea", however was also branded as "PRECIOUS X BANGLADESH" by the group. This concert was also streamed online only due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
On September 10, 2021, PRECIOUS released a tribute song "Everything will be OK" as part of Full Piri Project's Dedication Song project. The song was made in light of the human rights situation in Myanmar after the coup d'état on February 1st.
On December 6, 2021, it was announced that members HanByeol and LeeSoo would go on indefinite hiatuses so both could prioritize their health.[1]
2022-2023: Lineup changes and planned redebut
After a livestream on February 14, 2022, member JiHyo stopped participating in activities for unknown reasons. No announcement was ever made about the absences.
On March 2, 2022, it was announced that HanByeol would resume activities.[2] However, she would only be seen in one livestream before returning to being absent from activities.
On September 23, 2022, it was announced that the contracts between UMI Entertainment and members JiHyo, LeeSoo and HanByeol had been terminated.[3] It was also announced that PRECIOUS would redebut. Three days later, on September 26, 2022, it was announced that Pocketdols would end support for the former members on October 31st, 2022.
In mid-October 2022, MinJeong was seen attending a fashion show part of Seoul Fashion Week. She attended that event with EunB and HanWoom as part of PRECIOUS, hinting that she had joined the group.[4]
On February 21, 2023, the profile image of the official Instagram account was updated to show the new lineup of EunB, HanWoom and three more girls. On April 7, 2023, the unrevealed members were revealed to be MinJeong, HeeSu and HyoJin.[5] On April 14, the profile image was again replaced, this time by a simple black image.
On June 22, 2023, the group attended and participated in the Global Civic Sharing Movement 'ESG (Environmental Social Governance)' event with a lineup of three members. They were appointed as an honorary ambassador for the Korea International Cooperation Agency's Youth Volunteer Group. At that event, the group‘s lineup was revealed to consist of EunB, HanWoom and a new member, Min.[6]
On August 20, 2023, HyoJin was revealed as a member of the girl group SOE, thus silently confirming her departure from PRECIOUS. Additionally, HeeSu's departure was confirmed with her reveal as a member of SOE on October 21, 2023.
2024: Disbandment, EunB's departure from UMI Entertainment
On February 17, 2024, HanWoom announced on Pocketfols that the members had decided to go separate ways, thus confirming the group’s disbandment.
In early March, UMI Entertainment updated their website, removing PRECIOUS from their artist list, and now listing HanWoom and Min as actresses. EunB was removed from the website completely, signifying that she has left the company.
