- "Hm... There's a magnificant mountain range... jungle which is of no use to anyone... desolate sand beaches... and that's it. The excitement is inside the town walls."
- ―Redmond's citizens describe the colony
Redmond was a large English colony located in the Caribbean during the early 17th century. At this time it was under the administration of Governor Robert Christopher Silehard.
History
- "Redmond's history? Hmm... The colony was founded about twenty-five years ago... The island is rich and fertile, and the colony grew quickly... Now it's the biggest and most thriving settlement in the whole archipelago."
- ―Redmond's citizens on the colony's history
Redmond colony was established around the year 1605 - 15 years after Oxbay was built up, making it the second island in the archipelago to come under British rule. Sir Robert Chirstopher Silehard was made its governor, and from his seat the towns of Greenford and Oxbay were also administered.
Sometime before 1630, Governor Silehard ordered Captain Raoul Rheims to investigate an Incan legend of lost treasure on Khael Roa island. He also utilized the man-of-war Belette, which was to be the flagship of the English fleet, for this quest. When Rheims uncovered some information about the treasure, Silehard ordered his arrest or assassination to prevent it from spreading, falsely branding him a traitor to the Crown.
In 1630, a French invasion of Oxbay took place, and Silehard, short on warships, commandeered Captain Nathaniel Hawk's lugger the Victory to spy on the captured settlement. He also ordered Captain Ewan Glover's sloop Albion to transport a detachment of troops on Gray Rock Bay which helped liberate the town later on.
When Governor Silehard sailed to Khael Roa aboard the Belette, the Redmond town hall was temporarily closed. After Silehard's death or capture by Nathaniel Hawk when the captain defected, the colony was left without a governor - it is not known who took his place.

Redmond colony

The town proper was one of the busiest and most developed settlements in the archipelago, and was complete with all essential facilities for sailors and merchants. These included a store, shipyard, tavern, harbormaster's office, and loanshark's office. Within the town walls lay the governor's residence, highly-guarded by four loyal soldiers, and a church with a nearby graveyard. A dungeon was also located here, where undead pirates guarded treasure and an ancient Highlander's sword held by a dead Scottish warrior. Near the outskirts was a prison where Nathaniel Hawk was once mistakenly held in.
A massive fort protected the settlement from the bay. The fort was of a curved design and was one of the largest in the archipelago. A lighthouse also stood at the edge of the port, helping guide ships into the harbor at night.
Devil's Throat

Devil's Throat was one of two shores in the island which was separated from the town's outskirts by a small jungle. The location earned its name for the massive rock arches near the beach, which gave the impression of the insides of a giant's throat. From here, Silehard's residence could be secretly accessed, a feat once used by Nathaniel Hawk and Danielle Greene when they interrogated the governor about lost treasure.
Rocky Shore

Rocky Shore was the other of the two shores in the island. As its name suggests, the shore was full of rocks. This part of the island led to Redmond's secondary square, with the church.
