Buttercup, the beautiful fairy princess[1] is a fairy who first appeared in Pac-Land.
History
Arcade Games
Pac-Land
Buttercup first appeared in Pac-Land; where she got lost from her home, Fairyland. She requested Pac-Man's assistance, as she couldn't go alone due to the Ghosts; Pac-Man carried her in his hat, on a journey to bring her back to Fairyland. After arriving, her mother, the Mother Fairy, bestows on Pac-Man the Wing Shoes, which allow him to safely return home.
Pac-Carnival
While she was not present in the original Carnival, Buttercup made an appearance in its sequel, Pac-Carnival, as a supporting character.
Pac Adventure
Buttercup appears in the introductory cutscene of Pac Adventure.
Super Smash Bros. Series
Super Smash Bros. Ultimate
In Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, Buttercup appears in the Pac-Land stage, as it recreates the original game.
