Ratel

Ratel is a Marine captain who led an invasion of Sphinx during Marco's absence.[1]

Appearance

Ratel is an average-sized man with dark circles under his eyes, prominent lips and nose, and three whiskers on each side of his face. He wears a light-colored suit, a standard marine coat, and a marine cap with round animal ears on it.[1]

Personality

Ratel is a ruthless, greedy and corrupt individual who is willing to terrorize and steal from civilians, including children and the elderly, in countries not affiliated with the World Government. He believes that the law does not apply in non-affiliated countries.[1]

Abilities and Powers

As a Marine Captain, Ratel has authority over lower-ranking Marines.[1]

Physical Abilities

His physical prowess is unknown, but he was easily dispatched by the former Warlord of the Sea Edward Weevil.[1]

Weapons

Ratel carries a rifle which he used to threaten civilians.[1]

Ratel and his forces invaded Sphinx during Marco's trip to the Wano Country. They terrorized the civilians in an attempt to obtain treasure left by Whitebeard, with Ratel personally threatening children and an elderly woman with his rifle. However, Ratel was foiled by the arrival of Edward Weevil, who defeated Ratel with a single attack and caused the marines to escape on their ship and retreat while carrying the unconcious Ratel and the other injured which led the Marines to summon an Admiral.[1]

  • His name and appearance are themed around the honey badger, also known as the ratel.
  • He is similar in character to the corrupt marine Nezumi, both in the aspects of personality and physical appearance.
