History
One Piece: Treasure Wars
Cal acted as Cello's servant when the Treasure Wars were underway on Cream Mist. After the Straw Hat Pirates had acquired the first Life Gem, Cal gave a progress update to Cello and noted that the pirates seem to be good at treasure hunting. He gave another update to Cello after the crew had acquired a second Life Gem. After the crew had acquired three Life Gems, Cello expressed some concern over allowing pirates into his mansion when it came time to claim the final Life Gem on Granu Island. Cal reassured him that a rule had been set it place to only allow those pirates who possess the Life Gems onto the island. Cello was still worried that even a small number of powerful pirates could potentially lay waste to his mansion, which is when Cal brought in Helsing. He introduced Helsing to Cello as his "trusted friend" and promised that Helsing would defeat the pirates on Xyli Island and claim their four Life Gems before they would make it to Cello's mansion. Cello was overjoyed by the idea as he would not have to pay the reward money to pirates, and immediately agreed.[1]
After Helsing was defeated on Xyli Island, Cello was in shock and questioned Cal about the situation. Cal reassured him that he still had one person prepared to deal with the pirates. Cello threatened Cal that he would be fired if this person did not live up expectations. When Lytton introduced himself to Cello, the king immediately recognized him and became fearful. Lytton revealed that he had been manipulating Cello, and Cello realized that Cal had been working with Lytton all along. Lytton then ordered Cal to restrain Cello, which he did.[1]

After Lytton was defeated by the Straw Hat Pirates inside Cello's mansion, Cal appeared with Karasu, asking his captain if he was done with the pirates. Cal was shocked to discover Lytton had been defeated, and immediately fell in line when the Straw Hat Pirates asked him to reveal where their stolen Eternal Pose was hidden. He and Lytton were subsequently arrested by Smoker when Marine forces entered the mansion.[1]
