BOSS RUSH is a location in OMORI. It is a local attraction run by BOSS for those who want to refight the game's story-mandatory bosses within HUMPHREY, only accessible on ONE DAY LEFT of the OMORI ROUTE.
STORY
BOSS RUSH
BOSS RUSH is only available on the OMORI ROUTE during the final day in HEADSPACE. It can be accessed from HUMPHREY in the puzzle room by going through the left tube. OMORI and his friends can challenge simulations of the story mandatory bosses again, such as YE OLD SPROUT. All enemies have higher stats compared to their normal boss variants.
Before taking on the challenge, the player can buy various items in preparation for the event from the MAILBOX. MARI and BASIL can be seen sitting at their own table, cheering on the group as they take on the challenge. BOSS stands at a nearby desk, waiting to boot up the simulation.
All the characters fought there consist of YE OLD SPROUT, DOWNLOAD WINDOW, SPACE EX-BOYFRIEND, KING CRAWLER, SIR MAXIMUS, SIR MAXIMUS II, SIR MAXIMUS III, (Note that all 3 Sir Maximus's are fought at once) LIFE JAM GUY, SWEETHEART, MR. JAWSUM, PLUTO (EXPANDED), THE SLIME GIRLS, and all three phases of HUMPHREY.
Depending on how many battles they win, a new trophy will appear in the main room. If you lose before defeating the three SIR MAXIMUSES, a PARTICIPATION RIBBON will be displayed. After defeating the SIR MAXIMUS trio, the COOL TROPHY will be displayed. After defeating PLUTO (EXPANDED), the COOLER TROPHY will be displayed. After defeating HUMPHREY, the COOLEST TROPHY will be displayed.
Clearing the event will grant the player the "Seriously, you're the coolest!" achievement, as well as MARI'S COOKIE.
BASIL RUSH
Exclusive to the console releases, if the BOSS RUSH simulation was attempted at least once, the player has the option to interact with BASIL to initiate a special version of the event, known as the BASIL RUSH. From there, the group suggests that BASIL should try out the BOSS RUSH with OMORI as his partner for the entire run. Along with that, KEL secretly tells BOSS to program simulated versions of himself, AUBREY, and HERO into the event. Inspired by KEL's idea, MARI also tells BOSS to program a hologram of herself while keeping it a secret from everyone else other than KEL.
This will allow players to use BASIL as a playable party member when entering the simulation with OMORI. The order of bosses fought goes out the same as in the normal version, until the remaining two rounds that come after HUMPHREY's defeat. The penultimate round of the simulation has the two pitted against simulations of KEL, AUBREY, and HERO. Note that even if the player loses the first time around against the friends, they can still retry the battle as many times as possible until the latter group is defeated.
Once the simulation friends have been dealt with, the final opponent of the simulation turns out to be none other than a hologram of MARI herself. When the two take on the simulated MARI, things take a turn for the worse as the hologram ends up transforming into a hanged corpse, which serves as a horrific reminder of the truth behind MARI's death. After the fight abruptly ends, OMORI and BASIL find themselves back at the lobby room, presumably due to the former resetting the simulation in an attempt to further repress the truth.
BASIL considers fighting alongside his friends someday but immediately dismisses that thought as it won't be happening anytime soon. Completion of the special event will render it unavailable for the remainder of the game unless the player has a save file that reloads to a point before taking on the challenge.[1]

TRIVIA
- This is the only area where BASIL can be used as a playable character.
- The special event with BASIL as a party member is listed as BASIL RUSH in the game's data.
- The BGM that plays within the BOSS RUSH area is the same one used for OTHERMART PHARMACY in FARAWAY TOWN.
- LIFE JAM GUY is the only enemy in the BOSS RUSH area where the player can use the RUN AWAY option as the fight is only there to provide the group a means of briefly recovering before the next match.
- If BASIL was equipped with a charm, more unique dialogue will play out during completion of the special event. BASIL gives OMORI back the charm not before mistaking the latter's expression towards him as an accusation of theft while confuting the claim.
- Speaking to MARI after completing the special event prompts unique dialogue where she questions OMORI on why he is looking at her so strangely before dismissing it. She then reassures OMORI that she will always take care of him as long as she is with him forever.
- Around late 2022, OMOCAT has released a set of merchandise all related to the BOSS RUSH attraction. The merchandise released features various characters from HEADSPACE, including bosses that aren't fought in the simulation such as the UNBREAD TWINS or BOSSMAN HERO.
