Holy smoke (「神煙」?; Kamikemuri; god smoke) is what appears around the Celestial Brush to signal that a certain Celestial Brush technique can be used from certain corresponding sources. Not all techniques have Holy smoke, but many do. Holy smoke does not apply to Secret Celestial Brush techniques, as they do not require elemental sources for the brushstroke.
Smoke colors
- Black: Rejuvenation and various miscellaneous applications such as Fishing, launching Issun inside the Emperor's Palace or with the Thief's Glove, using Rao's Prayer Slips on the Sunken Ship, etc.
- Green: Greensprout
- Blue: Waterspout
- Orange: Inferno [Okamiden]
- Yellow: Thunderstorm
- Magenta: Catwalk
- Dark blue: Blizzard
- Red: Guidance [Inferno in Okami]
