Thief's Glove

The Thief's Glove is a Holy Artifact purchased in Ōkami that grants Issun the ability to steal items and treasures from demons. It is one of the most useful items for farming items and treasures. The glove itself is a simple dark blue fingerless glove with a white spiral on the back of the palm.

Use

By drawing a line from Issun to an opponent, the Poncle will follow the trail, dealing damage and, once per opponent, bringing an item back to Amaterasu. This may be a normal item or one of the common Treasures (Glass Bead, Wooden Bear, Vase, etc.). Multiple opponents can intersect with this line, but Issun will only attack the one at the end.

Damage dealt is minimal at first, but Issun's power will grow with repeated use. However, it will take several thousand hits before he is dealing serious damage to enemies. "Experience" is gained per hit rather than per steal, and is carried over to a New Game+, even though the Thief's Glove itself is not.

The hitbox that Thief's Glove creates is roughly level with Amaterasu's shoulders, large enough to encompass most of her head, and takes priority over other elements, which can cause difficulty with using the elemental powers of Thunder Edge, Solar Flare or the Tundra Beads. Focusing the Celestial Brush further down the weapon, such as on the Solar Flare's trailing flames or the end of Thunder Edge's blade, can prevent this issue.

Acquisition

After defeating Blight and unlocking the cell of Kaguya, the Emperor will start selling Holy Artifacts and items for Demon Fangs, and the Thief's Glove is immediately available for purchase for 70 Demon Fangs.

Trivia

  • When the Thief's Glove is used, Issun will glow pinkish-red, the same color as when he is angry.
  • Upon purchase, the Thief's Glove's damage output is next to nothing, and is only practical in stunning enemies. However, repeated usage will steadily increase the damage output.
    • After about 20,000 hits, he will be able to kill even the toughest regular enemies in the game (those in the Kamui Devil Gate trial) in one strike.
    • The hidden strike glitch is used to prevent a too-strong Thief's Glove from killing demons, keeping them alive for optimal farming procedure (which is supposed to end with a Sub-Reflector counterattack).
