Alois Bernholt, also known as Al, is a playable character in Xenoblade Chronicles X: Definitive Edition. He is the hero who held off the alien forces when the White Whale crashed on Mira and is central to the story of Chapter 13.
In Xenoblade Chronicles X, Al is referenced by various characters as "the hero" or as Elma's Skell partner, though he is not named. In the final scene, Al is seen walking on the beach towards Lao Huang.
Appearance and personality
Al is a man with grey hair and stubble, blue eyes, and a scar over his left eye and eyebrow. He has two silver earrings in his left ear. His default outfit is a dark blue leather jacket over a black shirt, tan trousers, and black gloves. While piloting the Ares, he wore the Sakuraba Skell suit. When meeting Lao in purgatory, Al wore a black hooded jacket with the Blade logo.
Al is self-confident and brash, but he strongly dislikes being being branded as a hero and put on a pedestal. Al has a strange sense of humor, as seen with his "How's it popping?" greeting ritual, and as a result has few people close to him. Despite this, he has a great love for the people of Earth – and now Mira – and is fiercely protective of them.
Trivia
- Al was originally conceived as the mysterious Black Knight character in the Art of MIRA artbook.
