Chase

Chase is the main protagonist of the Nick Jr. series PAW Patrol and PAW Patrol: The Movie. As of Season 10, he has been voiced by six Canadian and US actors and debuted in the show's first episode, "Pups Make a Splash". His job as a police, detective, and spy.

Personality

Chase is a German Shepherd and the PAW Patrol's police, detective and spy dog. He is the most serious member of the team and was the first to join. Chase is very committed to his job and tends to speak to his leader Ryder in a professional tone, referring to him as "sir". While he strives to maintain a businesslike tone, even Chase cannot keep a straight face after comical Rubble cracks a joke. He always tries his best to stay serious when on a mission, but sometimes lets his emotions slip through (such as when he tells Skye that he was worried about her and immediately covers it up). He is always at ready to call everyone with a megaphone so people can hear him and use the nets to save or stop people or animals such as birds and beavers. When off-duty, he also has a playful side. He and Marshall are best friends and often playfully compete with each other.

He often needs to use his sense of smell when on missions, but ironically, he has several allergies. He is prone to excessively loud sneezing when around feathers and cats. Feathers and cats are some of his allergies.

In PAW Patrol: The Movie, Chase is the main protagonist of the film. As a younger pup, he was abandoned by his former owners onto the harsh streets of Adventure City. Lost, scared, and confused he made his way through the busy streets. While crossing the street, Chase almost got hit by a truck but Ryder jumped in to save him. After that, the two formed a close bond and became friends for life.

Because of his past on the streets of the metropolis, while his friends move to Adventure City, Chase begins suffering from Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD). After the firework show goes haywire, Chase tries to save some people but fails when he forgets to disconnect his parachute, as the people are saved by Marshall. When people get caught on the upside-down loop-a-loop train, Chase tries to save them, but his fears get the best of him, and is forced to be rescued by Skye while Marshall goes to the car park and rescue the passengers with his ladder to reach the train. Ryder suggests Chase should take a break from his duties, but he greatly hurts him and he calls Ryder out by accusing him of breaking his trust and giving up on him when things get hard (which hurts Ryder's feelings as well) and he runs away out of heartbreak, but gets captured by Humdinger's henchmen. Later, Chase is rescued by Liberty, who got herself captured to allow the other pups to follow her, comforting him and bringing up his morale a bit, then she brings Rubble to breach the wall with his wrecking ball as the PAW Patrol is heading away from Fuzzy Buddies obedience school (turned into a dog pound).

Soon, Ryder brings Chase to the city intersection where he saved his life and explains to him why he chose him was not out of pity, but because he was the bravest dog that he ever met. Chase is needed and loved by his friends and Ryder, then he puts on Chase's collar to him, as Ryder asks him to go to work and Chase agrees to resume his duties. Then much later, Chase and his friends are racing to Humdinger Heights with Ryder and Liberty, who recently becomes the team's member on their third mission. Chase realizes Ryder's in danger of the big rainstorm, so he drives up to search him with his police cruiser and his motorcycle. Chase begins to struggle to run to the other side of the building where he saw a gap. Choosing to use his grappling hook, his pup-pack malfunctions by the gust of wind as he is dragged and makes him fall, forcing him to disengage his pup-pack. When he hears Ryder's words in his mind, Chase knows that he is the true hero and he got over his fears where he risking his life he even takes the leap of faith to do it, he founds Ryder and he freed him as they tried to get out as soon a possible. At the end of the movie, Chase and Ryder come out of a building and his friends and Liberty are happy to see them. Humdinger is no longer the mayor of Adventure City and he gets arrested by Chase. At the ceremony, Ryder receives a call from Harris, telling them that there is trouble on the waterfront as Chase, Liberty, and the other pups are ready as leading the team to drive to the rescue. This movie shows how Chase's determination in Adventure City.

Appearance

Chase, as shown in the series, is a German Shepherd. He has brown fur covering his body, with lighter brown/tan fur on his face, and on his paws. He has a long beaver-like tail. When wearing his normal outfit, he has a blue police hat with a yellow trim and black bill. His vest and pup-pack are blue, with three yellow chevrons on each side, usually the rank of a police sergeant. When wearing his Super-Spy gear, he wears a blue helmet, boots, and a vest, all of which have a lime green trim. His Super Spy helmet also has a visor when needed. His boots also have suction cups that can be deployed to use as wall-walkers.

Pup-Tag

Like all PAW Patrol members, Chase has his own personalized pup-tag which he uses to make calls to Ryder, The Lookout, and the other pups, as well as make video calls to said members. His is customized with a blue background and a shape of a star badge on it to represent his job as a police officer.

The Mission PAW version of his pup-tag has a GPS that can be used to track his location and a video camera. The Mighty Pups version of his pup-tag has a meteorite on it.

Equipment and Vehicles

Chase's normal pup-pack has a cannon that contains a net and tennis balls, and mix of a megaphone and flashlight. In the movie, his normal pup-pack also contains a grappling hook. His Super-Spy pup-pack contains a net, zipline and flashlight, while his Sea Patrol pup-pack contains a rescue buoy and megaphone, with his scuba gear also having a flashlight. His Mighty Pup pup-pack contains his drag chute, while his Rescue Knights pup-pack contains his dragon megaphone. In the episode "Air Pups", he was given a glider for air-based rescues.

His normal vehicle is a blue and black police truck with white and yellow highlights. It contains traffic cones and a winch. While on a jungle missions, his police truck is painted camouflage, reinforced push bars on the front, and minor color changes to his emergency lights. In Season 2, he received a super spy truck along with his super spy uniform, except that has lime green highlights. It has an ejector seat, winch, and off-road wheels. It also has a computer device and satellite dish that are used to control a spy drone. Its vehicle number is 02.

His Mission PAW vehicle is a three-wheeled motorcycle that comes equipped with a landing pad.

His Sea Patrol vehicle is a patrol boat equipped with a megaphone and winch. It also has a land mode.

In the Ultimate Rescue sub-series, his police truck was upgraded into a much larger version of itself, with a larger red-and-blue light bar, along with deployable motorcycles and a helicopter from the sides and back of the main vehicle.

His Mighty Pups vehicle is a blue car with white stripes and gray and yellow highlights that can deploy his energy nets.

His Ready Race Rescue vehicle is a blue race car with white and yellow highlights that contains a winch.

His Dino Rescue is a blue Dino-shaped police truck with white stripes and yellow highlights. It has two black and yellow wheels in the front and two larger wheels in the back.

His Jet to the Rescue vehicle is a blue and yellow jet with white highlights that has two different modes: stealth and rescue. When in rescue mode, the wings flip and give him access to his launchers.

His Moto Pups vehicle is a blue motorcycle with white and yellow stripes, and black and gray highlights that deploy his energy net.

In the movie, his vehicle in Adventure City is a high-tech police cruiser that has in armored mode, an ejector seat, specialized tape dispenser, a net launcher, and a retractable motorcycle with some suction cup tires that can stick drive up on the windows.

His Rescue Knights is a blue armored police truck with yellow and gray highlights that deploy his launcher, a dragon bola, and a dragon net.

His Big Truck Pups vehicle is a blue big truck with white and yellow stripes and black highlights that the trailer rises horizontally and transforms into a command-center that can deploy his launcher, drone, and other rescue tools.

His Aqua Pups vehicle is a blue shark-themed submarine that equipped with a net that launches from the mouth in the front.

In the second movie and the sub-series (from Season 10), his Mighty Pups vehicle is a blue and black police cruiser with yellow and white highlights. When powered-up by his power paws, the vehicle's streaks glow blue and transforms it into its rescue mode.

His Jungle Pups vehicle is a blue tiger-themed police truck with yellow and white highlights. Its wheels are all equipped with pairs of yellow, retractable tiger claws. It is also able to imitate the sounds of a tiger that can communicates them.

His Rescue Wheels vehicle is a navy blue cruiser on black oversized wheels with blue and red emergency lights painted on both sides and is equipped with a retractable tennis ball launcher in its back compartment and a winch in the front.

His Air Rescue vehicle is a navy blue police chopper with yellow and white highlights. Inside the helicopter, aside from the cockpit where Chase controls the vehicle, there are two passenger seats in the back that allows him to give the other pups and people rides. It is equipped with a megaphone, which he uses to communicate loudly to the others who may be too far away and a pair of net launchers that he uses to catch and secure things.

Skills and Abilities

Chase has an extremely strong sense of smell which he can use to track down anything, but, in the series, his allergies to cats and feathers sometimes cause him trouble. He has been shown to be able to speak with beavers and owls.

In PAW Patrol: The Movie, he is shown to be very athletic. His greatest feat is leaping from one building to another many stories high in order to save Ryder.

As a Mighty Pup, he can run at high speeds like The Flash and Sonic the Hedgehog (also retains in the second movie), deploy energy nets, and after he becomes charged-up, he can unleash a sonic bark like Bolt.

  • Despite the allergy to birds, Chase never sneezed once when Little Hootie was on his nose. This may imply that Chase is only allergic to certain types of feathers.
