Gary Glasberg

Gary Glasberg (July 15, 1966- September 28, 2016) was an American television writer and producer who served as the main showrunner for "NCIS" and who also created the second NCIS spin-off series, NCIS: New Orleans.

Born in New York City, Glasberg worked on various other TV shows such as "Crossing Jordan", "Bones" and "The Mentalist" before he joined NCIS in 2011, eventually becoming the showrunner.

Glasberg died in Los Angeles on September 28, 2016 at the age of 50 with Glasberg being survived by his wife, writer Mimi Schmir and two teenage sons.

Following Glasberg's death, George Schenck and Frank Cardea, both of whom regularly write episodes for NCIS were later announced as the new joint showrunners for NCIS during November 2016 and following their departure, Steve D. Binder replaced them as the showrunner for NCIS.
