SCENE | Gordon welcomes the viewer as he practices golfing for a round he's playing with Alan today. Big Bird comes by (singing "Let's Go Driving" to himself) and reminds Gordon of the importance of practice. The beautiful sounds of the day are interrupted by nearby moaning. He finds Telly, moping over a situation that happened not long ago... |

SCENE cont'd | In a flashback, Oscar tells the Grouchketeers (including Telly) that today's the Annual Grouch Picnic and Field Day. He adds that their chapter of the Fraternal Order of Grouchketeers has been appointed as the official cheerleaders of the event. Oscar demonstrates how their cheer works (banging their trash can lids and growling "GRRRR-OUCH!") and everyone gets the hang of it, except for Telly. |

SCENE cont'd | Back in the present, Oscar and the kids continue practicing, when Gordon approaches him with Telly. He confirms with Oscar that if Telly can learn the cheer, he can go on the trip. But, they only have 10 minutes before the bus arrives. |

SCENE cont'd | Gordon shows Telly how practice was able to improve his golf playing and the same can happen for Telly's cheer. Telly demonstrates the first two parts of the cheer, but can't perform them together and finds he's hopeless. Gordon tells him, "You know how to do it. You just don't know you know how to do it." Telly doesn't understand, until Big Bird helps him realize (by saying the exact same statement again). Telly gains some confidence and does the Grouch cheer perfectly! |

SCENE cont'd | The bus pulls up to the street (as driven by Ralph Crammedon) and Oscar won't let it leave until Telly proves himself. Ralph demands they hurry up, but is frightened away by Telly's impressive cheer. Oscar lets him board the bus and fills Gordon in on some serendipitous information: the public golf course is right next to the location of the picnic, and the Grouchketeers will be cheering Gordon on for the entire game (to his dismay). |
