SCENE 1 | Maria welcomes the viewer when Prairie Dawn pushes her piano to the Fix-It Shop. She is sad because it no longer makes beautiful music, but funny sounds instead. Maria inspects it, then asks if Prairie went to the park today. She recalls doing so, leaving her piano alone while she rested under a tree. Maria shows her that a squirrel stored nuts inside while she wasn't looking and caused the piano to sound that way. She removes the nuts and the piano sounds fine now, and Prairie decides to share her happiness with Maria by making up a song for her (albeit slowly and off-key). |
