SCENE 1 | Luis and Gordon see the street is inundated with large junk piles all over the place. Oscar, Grundgetta, and Smudgey tell them that today is an important Grouch holiday - Pile Appreciation Day; all year long, Grouches make piles of all kinds of junk and spend the holiday celebrating the work they've done. The three then launch into their "Pile Appreciation Day Song." They agree to move some of the piles out of the way of the residents, right after they dig into their celebratory pile of lunch (prunes with gravy). |
