SCENE 1 | David needs to do some cleaning in the Hooper's Store basement and assigns a Honker to help; if he's needed by a customer, the Honker will honk two times. When David goes downstairs, Bob passes by and asks for the time. The Honker honks twice to say it's two o'clock, bringing David up, thinking this was the signal. This happens again when Telly Monster comes in from the Sesame Street relay race, asking how many others have passed the store already. Big Bird, also in the race, comes by now and asks what number he's been given - 2. The Honker frets, but then realizes he can merely hold up two fingers. Big Bird thanks him by tweaking his nose twice. The Honker cowers and awaits David's angry arrival. Gordon enters just before David comes up and orders a glass of milk. David comments to the Honker, "You see how it works?" The Honker faints. |
