The Second Talite Crusade was a campaign led by the Church of Tal following the failed Siege of Penregon.

History

The siege was the church's first military failure after the round of success in the First Talite Crusade. The Talites had to regroup after the siege, collecting themselves, nursing their wounded, and marching away from the city while vowing to return at a later date. ^[1]

The Talites then headed to the Kher Ridges seeking Urza's Tower. Kayla bin-Kroog had warned the Talites of the mist surrounding the tower, but she did not know of its remaining defenses. The details of this battle are unknown, but it can be presumed that there were defensive measures put into place at Urza's most important base.

Although Raddic had sworn to tear the tower down brick by brick, the Talites instead destroyed any artifacts inside the tower but left the building itself standing. It is not known what happened to make them change their mind about razing it, but the tower remained until it was found by Teferi, Saheeli, Kaya, and others during the second Phyrexian Invasion of Dominaria about 4,500 years later.^[1][2][3]

After leaving Urza's Tower, the Talites then headed across the pass to Mishra's Fortress. The fighting there was fierce, as this had been Mishra's greatest base, where his factories, forges, and foundries had roared for years. "The demons there were great in number and fury, but thanks be to Tal, we killed them all. Many of the faithful died, Raddic among them", the Talites' unnamed second leader later told Kayla.^[1]

Although they had lost many, the Talites had not forgotten about Penregon and returned to its walls once more. This time, there was to be no siege, as the civils that had once populated its streets had all left, marching across the ice to some unknown destination.^[1]

Thus satisfied that all the lands of eastern Terisiare had been liberated from the "machine demons", the second crusade ended, and the church and its masses went to recover and rebuild.
