Candle was the former priest on Whitewings, Almond's husband and Urchin's father.

Candle was a brave squirrel and did many great things for Larch.

History

Urchin and the Heartstone

Candle is mentioned when Cedar tells Urchin about his parents. He trained Brother Flame to take over from him and spoke a prophecy about Urchin before he was born: "He will bring down a powerful ruler." Candle was killed when he was pushed off a mountain on Whitewings, probably on orders from King Silverbirch who was very suspicious of priests and listened only to Smokewreath. His death prompted Almond to flee Whitewings and escape to Mistmantle, since it wasn't safe for them anymore.
