Vehau was a 23rd century Human woman. She served in Starfleet as an ensign aboard the Federation starship USS Enterprise in the 2270s under the command of Captain James T. Kirk.
Biography
In 2275, Vehau was the night shift communications officer on the Enterprise. She woke Leonard McCoy to have him sign receipt of a message from Starfleet, at a time when Kirk had placed the doctor in command during the ship's visit to Flyspeck. When McCoy asked who else was stationed on the bridge at this hour, she noted that at the moment it was just "us chickens". Then, wondering about the expression, she asked him what a chicken was. She transmitted his reply, to Admiral Delacroix, and then McCoy went back to bed. (TOS novel: Doctor's Orders)
