Nuofons are a humanoid species who reside on their homeworld of Nuofo. Except for skin color, they strongly resembled Destans and Hytarans.
History
In the 23rd century, governments of Hytar and Nuofo were united and led by a Hytaran, but he was overthrown by the Nuofon Irf and shortly afterward the two peoples began a civil war.
In 2266, the USS Enterprise visited their star system. Captain James T. Kirk agreed to mediate their dispute, but his landing party was captured by Nuofons and Kirk was spurred to force both sides to accept a peace conference. They agreed after a third party, the Destans, bombed the Nuofon's city. Public elections restored democracy and reunited the Nuofons in peace with Destans. (TOS comic: "The Third Party")
- The striking resemblance between Destans, Hytarans and Nuofons suggests the possibility that they could be racial variants of the same species.
