Irf was a 23rd century Nuofon man who served as general of the military forces of Nuofo.
Biography
By the year 2266, General Irf directed attacks during Nuofo's civil war with Hytar. When the Starfleet starship USS Enterprise sent a shuttlecraft to Nuofo, its crew was seized and brought to Irf. Captain James T. Kirk offered to mediate between the warring leaders, but Irf rejected the offer of diplomacy and detained the landing party. After being manipulated by Hytaran General Ari, Kirk launched an invasion of Nuofo, capturing Irf.
Irf and Ari realized that recent appearances of attack ships were actually Destan, a mutual enemy. The Enterprise repelled forces from Desta in exchange for free elections, which ended the war. (TOS comic: "The Third Party")
