The Daleks were cybernetic species made up of genetically engineered warriors encased in small tanks who were native to the planet Skaro in an alternate reality.
History and specifics
Daleks were the most deadly species known to The Doctor. Sam Rutherford described a Dalek as a pepper pot and was surprised that it had lifesigns.
In 2381, a dimension-spanning temporal anomaly created by Badgey dragged a Dalek to the holodeck of the USS Cerritos, along with the Tenth Doctor and the TARDIS. The Dalek was confined to the brig, but it managed to break out. It was recaptured before it could locate a turbolift. Holograms of Counselor Deanna Troi and Captain William T. Riker then guarded it. Troi tried asking for the roots of its aggression and who hurt it, but Riker didn't think that was working. Since it was stuck in the 24th century, Beckett Mariner left it trapped in a holographic simulation of Ceti Alpha V. (LD video game: The Badgey Directive event: "Who Can It Be Now?")
On Skaro, Daleks attempted to create their own temporal anomaly, but inadvertently formed a dimensional rift that intersected with Badgey's rift. Brad Boimler and Beckett Mariner were pulled from the Cerritos to Skaro. They aided River Song, who noticed that the Daleks were using unusual amounts of artron energy, which could threaten the existence of the universe. (LD video game: A Trek to Skaro)
