83 Leonis B is a K class orange dwarf and the binary star of the Cheron system, located about 58 light-years from Earth and the Sol system, formerly under Romulan control until 2160 where it later was placed on the Federation side of the Romulan Neutral Zone. It lays about 80 billion kilometers from its A sibling, or more than five hundred times the average distance between Earth and Sol. It's massed a little less than eighty percent of Sol, making it considerably cooler and duller. It has associated bodies of six planets, including the fifth planet Cheron, whose nearly circular orbits were spaced more closely than were their counterparts in the Sol system, an arrangement that helped Cheron qualify for the habitable designation of Class M. (ENT novel: To Brave the Storm)
