Pottery

USS Cerritos crew making pottery

Pottery referred to containers shaped from clay or other ceramic materials and made durable by heating to high temperatures, typically in a kiln. Pottery could be made for practical or artistic purposes, and was an important element of culture. An individual who made pottery was known as a potter.

During a trip to Marlonia in 2369, Jean-Luc Picard collected pieces of pottery from an archaeological dig. (TNG: "Rascals")

In 2370, Lieutenant Worf found an ancient pottery vessel on Barradas III dropped by mercenaries that had plundered a nearby archaeological site. (TNG: "Gambit, Part I")

A Changeling infiltrated the Antwerp Conference in 2372 by disguising itself as a pottery vase. (DS9: "Homefront")

Pottery classes were held regularly aboard the USS Cerritos. When he was held captive on K'Tuevon Prime in 2380, Brad Boimler fretted about missing his pottery class. When the crew was granted R&R time the next year, Sam Rutherford attended a pottery-making session with Shaxs. (LD: "Veritas", "wej Duj")
