In starship classification, an interceptor was a type of armed starship designed to intercept incoming or hostile craft. To this end, interceptors typically have powerful warp or impulse engines. (ENT: "Borderland") High-speed jet-aircraft specifically designed to intercept and destroy enemy aircraft were also known as Interceptors. (TOS: "Tomorrow is Yesterday")
Captain John Christopher piloted an F-104 Starfighter, an interceptor equipped with missiles that were possibly armed with nuclear warheads. (TOS: "Tomorrow is Yesterday")
