- "Well well well. I've heard a lot about you. You must be Zero, the legendary Reploid... or should I say the old and out of date Reploid?"
- —Hanumachine, Resistance Base, Mega Man Zero
Hanumachine (ハヌマシーン Hanumashīn) is a boss from the Mega Man Zero series. He is a Mutos Reploid based on the Hindu monkey god Hanuman, and serves as a member of Hidden Phantom's Cutting Shadow Squadron.
In Mega Man Zero, he participates in a direct infiltration of the Resistance Base. In Mega Man Zero 3, he is resurrected by Dr. Weil as Hanumachine R to participate in yet another assault on the New Resistance Base.
History
Mega Man Zero
Hanumachine appears in the Mission "Resistance Base Defense",[1] leading an attack to destroy the Resistance Base. This mission occurs either after failing to stop Hittite Hottide in the "Giant Mechaniloid Invasion" mission, or after all selectable missions are completed. When Hanumachine attacked the Resistance Base, he was defeated by Zero in the warehouse. In the Japanese version, he politely spoke to Zero: "You are Zero-sama, the Ancient God of Destruction, aren't you?". Hanumachine does not reappear in the Neo Arcadia Core for a rematch with Zero, as Anubis Necromancess is the fire representative for Fighting Fefnir. Mega Man Zero Official Complete Works states that after Phantom's demise, he was transferred to Leviathan's Deep Sea Squadron.[2]
Mega Man Zero 3
Hanumachine is resurrected by Dr. Weil as Hanumachine R to serve his old master, Copy X MK. II, alongside Anubis Necromancess V and Blizzack Staggroff R. Given the information about his transfer to Leviathan in the Complete Works, how he ended up dead again is unknown. When Copy X orders an attack on the Resistance, Hanumachine leads an army against the New Resistance Base from the Forest of Anatre. Zero destroys him once again. Interestingly, Hanumachine again refers to Zero as the "God of Destruction", giving an early hint at Omega's true identity.
Strategy
Hanumachine can turn into a fireball and ricochet around the room Zero fights him in (in the third game this destroys the blocks occupying the room). He uses fire based attacks, like fireballs, and releases small versions of himself that explode after sticking to Zero. He also has a rod that can expand to a larger size.
Defeating him at A or S rank will give Zero the Split Heavens EX Skill in Mega Man Zero 3.

Etymology
- Hanumachine's name is a portmanteau of the legendary Hindi warrior "Hanuman" and the word "machine".
Trivia
- Despite being named for the Hindu deity Hanuman, Hanumachine bears greater similarity to the classic Chinese character Sun Wukong. Hanumachine's golden circlet, size-changing staff, and ability to summon smaller copies of himself all evoke traits specific to Sun Wukong as he appears in the epic novel Journey to the West.
- His red face and white coloring resembles those of some species of macaques, such as the Rhesus macaque and Japanese macaque.
