Carom (キャロム Kyaromu) is a floating security spherical Mechaniloid enemy from the Mega Man ZX series. It has an impenetrable outer shell that can split into four parts. In Mega Man ZX, its shell is blue with a red stripe on each shell segment. It attacks by opening its shell horizontally or vertically to reveal a glowing yellow core and firing two shots up and down or left and right, depending on how the shell opened. It can only be harmed while the shell is open. It explodes upon defeat, harming the player if they are in the blast range. In Mega Man ZX Advent, the only change is that the blue on the shell has become green, and it does not always fire upon opening.
Powerful melee attacks such as Model F's knuckle busters, Buckfire's Rockit and Meteor Kick, and Ugoyle's U-Kick will send the Carom flying around, bouncing on the walls until it explodes. It appears in Area A, Area H and Slither Inc.'s head office in Mega Man ZX; and in Train, Arctic Ice Floe and Ouroboros in Mega Man ZX Advent.
Trivia
- An enemy similar to Carom was planned to appear in Mega Man 10, but it was ultimately scrapped.[1]
