Gillgirl, known in Japanese as Surume (スルメ), real name Gilda Girlnikova (タカス ルミ, Takasu Rumi in Japanese),^[1][2] is a character from the Medabots series.

Description

Gillgirl is the lone female in the four commanders of the Rubberobo Gang, and can be described as being the "looks" of the disfunctional team, being both beautiful and cruel. Gillgirl is a domineering woman with a haughty laugh, and she loves luxurious things.

Appearances

Medarot 2 and Medabots (GBA)

In the video games she had a habit of Robattling newcomers to the Rubberobo Gang as a way of taking out her frustrations, something looked upon negatively by her peers. However, she eventually met her match in this way when her victim turned out to be a disguised Ikki Tenryou in Medabot Island, and later they Robattle again for a door password in the Rubberobo Gang hideout. She is also fought in the quest to obtain the ? Medal. Using a disguise, she works part-time as a waitress in Medaropolis 4, as her Rubberobo Gang salary is not enough to maintain her extravagant lifestyle.

In the Kabuto/Metabee version, her main Medabot is Stone Mirror, a Medusa type. In Medarot 2 she has one extra Stone Mirror and a Face Lantern, while in the GBA version she has two Gloomeg.

In the Kuwagata/Rokusho version, she mainly uses Circulis, a succubus type Medabot. In Medarot 2 she also has a Neutranurse and a Peppercat, while in the GBA version she has two Gloomeg.

Her main Medarot is Cry Banshee.

Medarot 4

Rumi worked for Shuri due to their similar tastes, and she became the owner of the hotel in the oasis. As Surume, she fought against Ikki, Erika and Koji twice in the desert, and she ran away when the Select Corps appeared. Later, she challenges Ikki to a Robattle with her real identity in her hotel. Ikki is annoyed and asks why she attacked him, and she reveals who she is, having the hotel's guardian Medarots corner him. Erika and Koji appear and save Ikki, and together they face Surume one last time. After her defeat, she orders the remaining guardians to distract the kids to cover her escape.

Surume is the only of the four leaders in Medarot 4 that is fought both with her true identity and with her Roborobo identity. As Surume, all three encounters with her are Team Robattles, the player's team having one of Ikki's Medarots, Erika's Last Sailor, and Koji's Excise. Surume's main Medarot is Cry Banshee, and she is accompanied by other Cry Banshee and Grazie in the first battle, by Grazie and Pakat in the second, and by other Cry Banshee and Stone Mirror in the third. As Rumi, her team has Young Sparrow and two Gots-Hurreens.

Gillgirl has two Saldrons, one of them having the arms of a Peppercat.

In this game, she uses the magician-type Medabot Magicalcard.

Medarot S: Unlimited Nova

In the main story she is fought in chapters 4 and 19. Her main Medabot is a Circulis with a Cat Medal, and she is accompanied by Bass-Troyers (Marine Medal) and Shisaku 1-Gou (Tortoise Medal).

In the retelling of Medarot 2 she is fought with two Stone Mirrors with Dog Medals and a Gloomeg with a Tortoise Medal on chapters 6, 8, 9, and twice on chapter 11.

She is also available as a Medafighter equipment.

Gillgirl is usually the second most intelligent of the group behind Shrimplips. She often keeps to the sidelines, letting her fellow Rubberobos fight on her behalf, but she is a strong Medafighter, displaying her ruthless side when she challenged Ikki to a Robattle in the episode Dude, Where's My Ma? with her two Medabots, Seagaru and Spiritus.

Etymology

• Surume is Japanese for dried squid or dried cuttlefish used for food, vaguely similar to jerky.
• Gillgirl is a combination of the words gill (a breathing organ of fish and other aquatic animals) and girl.
