Vezek was a Turanian outpost set in the Eastern Desert.[3] There, caravans paid toll.[6][2][3] Vezek was later described a a small city near the desert border separating Turan and Zamora[5] (possibly due to the advance of Turan's border westward).
History
Olgerd Vladislav, the chieftain of the Zuagirs, intended to storm Vezek, just before he was deposed by Conan.[6]
Later, in Vezek, Ahmed Mullah heard rumors that Conan's lieutenant Djebal spied upon the outpost's fat caravans. Mullah later saved Olgerd Vladislav, who claimed to be one of Conan's recruits, sent out on a mission at Vezek.[2]
Conan's plans for raiding Vezek were eventually cancelled as the Turanians reinforced their garrison.[7]
After massacring a regiment of Zamoran royal troops with his mercenaries, Conan visited the Vezek Inn. Two thugs, Farouk and Boufar, tried to racket him from his sack of booty but were swiftly slain. The remnants of the Zamoran troops arrived in the inn as Conan slept. Conan was witnessed by a Zamoran soldier but the antagonism between Captain M'hakal and Lt. Thalek spiraled into an all-out brawl preventing the discovery to be revealed. Conan, warned in the morning by the innkeeper, departed with a collection of weapons plundered from the sleeping soldiers.[5]Points of Interest

Notes

- Vezek was created by Robert E. Howard in "A Witch Shall Be Born" (Weird Tales; December, 1934), adapted in Savage Sword of Conan #5 (April, 1975), written by Roy Thomas and penciled by John Buscema.
- In the essay "Kindoms and Caravans: A Look At Trade Routes in the Hyborian Age", Robert L. Yaple set Vezek as connecting Aghrapur to the east with Shadizar, Zamora, as well as towards the Hyborian Kingdoms to the northwest via Akrel Oasis and through Khauran, and with Zamboula to the southwest.[1]
- In A Gazetteer of the Hyborian Age, Lee N. Falconer set it "south of Fort Wakla, on the cutoff route below the main road to Aghrapur".[3]
