History
To ensure that his doomed timeline didn't come to pass, Old Man Dylan Brock devised a way to win the Venom War while killing his past past self.[1] Using Doctor Doom's time-traveling technology, Old Man Dylan travelled to the past back when Spider-Man first fought Molten Man. There he confronted Molten Man and managed to extract some of his molten blood.[2]
With the blood in his possession, Dylan went to that time's Doctor Strange to ask him for help in traveling to the Flickering Realms and meet Chthon.[3] After passing the Elder God's test, Dylan gave him the memory of his first love, his mother, his friendships, all music he knew, his dreams at night, his sense of taste and his name, and as promised Chthon imbued the blood with his chaos magic.[4]
Despite losing most of his personality, Dylan persevered and at his request Strange teleported him to Jotunheim where he aimlessly walked for days until encountering Loki.[4] Dylan made a deal with the God of Mischief to help him create his weapon and in exchange Loki could have a piece of it. Loki agreed, and took him to Nidavellir where he had the dwarves forge the chaos magic-imbued blood into a weapon. Though it took some work, the dwarves were able to create two single bullets of Eganrac, a weapon able to stop Carnage once and for all.[5]
Loki kept one of the two bullets, leaving Dylan with the other one, and with Eganrac in hand he went to the Venom War, right as his past self stabbed his father Eddie with the Codex Blade.[5] In that moment, Meridius arrived equipped with Carnage's All-Blood the Necrospear, and determined to kill Dylan threw the weapon at him. Old Man Dylan immediately shot his past self with the Eganrac bullet before All-Blood could pierce him, enveloping both him and the Venom symbiote in a golden layer. All-Blood proved ineffective to the substance, and while Meridius was distracted fighting Eddie, Dylan grabbed hold of the Necrospear, enveloping it with Eganrac as well, and used it to kill Meridius for good. However, Old Man Dylan revealed to young Dylan that Eganrac was also meant to kill him and the symbiote as their victory was what doomed his now erased timeline. Soon Eganrac and All-Blood reacted violently between each other, resulting in a corruption that began killing the Venom symbiote. The symbiote immediately detached itself from Dylan to save him, and apparently perished upon being shot down by Alchemax's forces.[1]
Thankfully, the Venom symbiote survived, having bonded to Mary Jane Watson,[6] and some of Eganrac appeared to have remained in it as the symbiote retained its gold coloring.[7]Notes
