Twistee Island is a major location from Mario & Luigi: Brothership. It is the second island to be connected to the Uni-Tree on Shipshape Island as well as the third to be visited (if one counts Conductor Island in the introduction). Twistee Island can be visited upon connecting Rumbla Island, and its own connection unlocks Raynforst Island. Maykit is found here, and runs the workshop on Shipshape Island after her rescue (facilitated by connecting Twistee).

History

Maykit is Trapped

Mario and Luigi arrive on Twistee when they learn that Maykit is trapped here, although she is on a platform they cannot reach (which also has the island's Lighthouse) due to the Twisten Sprout's withering. When they get to the plaza, Groovemaster Dyode is lying there, having lost his confidence since he has no hair wax. Thankfully, a merchant named Spiralia can be found, but must be brought back to her shop to make the hair wax. Upon getting the hair wax, they give it back to Dyode, getting him out of his slump. They and Dyode's student Emmit then proceed to dance, growing the Twisten Sprout which they climb to the Lighthouse. Mario and Luigi then proceed to connect the Lighthouse to the Uni-Tree on Shipshape Island.

Bowser's Attack

When Mario and Luigi enter the Gulchrock Sea, Bowser realises they have come and redirects his sortie onto their vessel, forcing them to abandon ship. Bowser's attack also ends up severing Twistee from the Uni-Tree, so when they get back from Offandon Island, they are forced to reconnect Twistee. They can find it drifting in the Gulchrock Sea, and find the place overrun with monsters infected with Glohm, a virus-like substance that causes anyone who is infected by it to seek isolation. Whether Mario and Luigi reconnected Heatfreeze Island beforehand determines the state of Twistee. If the Bros. connected Heatfreeze beforehand, the villagers of Twistee will be overrun with the substance as well, and the perpetrator gets away with it. If the Bros. didn't, they catch the perpetrator (Togezokettoheitachi and Ringuzokettoheitachi) and can fight them as a miniboss, and Twistee's residents will be spared of the virus. Twistee's reconnection also dictates Heatfreeze Island's state, with not doing so meaning that by the time Mario and Luigi arrive on Heatfreeze Island, Prince Chilliam and Princess Burnadette are defending their home villages when the Bros. walk in. If the Bros. reconnected Twistee beforehand, the villages on Heatfreeze will be conquered by the Koopa Troop.

Layout

Starting Area

Mario and Luigi touch down at the southwestern corner of Twistee Island.

Plaza

This is a plaza where Groovemaster Dyode can be visited and talked too.

Woods

Northeast of the plaza is a forest teaming with Soreboars and Bumbleshoots.

Spiralia's Shop

Spiralia runs a shop from her hut at the southeastern corner of the forest.

Twisten Sprout and Lighthouse

Just to the north of the starting area and west of the plaza is the Twisten Sprout, which blooms in response to music.

Enemies

Minibosses are bolded.

  • Soreboar (Smaller ones are found on the field, but can summon bigger specimina. This enemy becomes infected with Glohm when Bowser severs Twistee from Shipshape during his surprise attack.)
  • Bumbleshoot (This enemy becomes infected with Glohm when Bowser severs Twistee from Shipshape during his surprise attack.)
  • Togezokettohei & Ringuzokettohei platoon (Appears after Bowser severs Twistee from Shipshape during his surprise attack. = This miniboss does not appear if the Bros. reconnected Heatfreeze Island.)

Behind the Scenes
