Mario is a plumber who, among many of his other appearances, is the main character of the Super Mario Bros. and Game Boy comic series by Valiant Comics, as well as the Nintendo Adventure Books.

Physical description
Mario is a short overweight Italian man with a thick black mustache, black eyebrows and black hair with blue eyes. He wears a red cap with white gloves and a long-sleeved blue shirt and red overalls, matching his original appearance in Donkey Kong and his appearance in Super Mario Bros.: The Lost Levels as well as the manual artwork for Super Mario Bros. 2. The colored cover artwork for the Nintendo Adventure Books show him having switched to the modern "blue overalls/red shirt" look from Dinosaur Dilemma onward.
In "It's Always Fair Weather", Mario's hair briefly turns brown when he becomes Raccoon Mario. This happens again when he puts on the doctor's coat in "The Doctor is In... Over His Head", a fact that he even lampshades at the end of this story.
