Mario & Wario

Mario & Wario is a game released for the Super Famicom on August 27, 1993. It was developed by Game Freak and published by Nintendo. Despite only releasing in Japan and even having a planned overseas localization, Mario & Wario's text is entirely in English.

Story

Mario, Luigi, Princess Peach, Yoshi head to a forest named Yōsei no Mori in search of the pixie living there. During their search, the group loses Luigi, and as Mario, Peach, and Yoshi go to look for him, Wario flies from his Bulldog to drop a bucket onto Mario's head that he cannot pull off.

Wanda, the pixie whom the group searched for, had been watching the events unfold, but she could not remove the bucket from Mario's head. As an alternative, Wanda decided that she would use her Magic Wand to guide Mario to Luigi.

Gameplay

MW 11

Mario & Wario is one of the few Super Famicom games to use the SNES Mouse as a controller. The player controls a fairy named Wanda, who can guide either Mario, Yoshi, or Princess Peach through a stage after Wario has dropped a bucket or other object onto their head. Gameplay-wise, the only difference that the three characters have is their movement speed, with Peach moving the slowest, Mario moving at average speed, and Yoshi moving the fastest. The player can click on things with the SNES Mouse for Wanda to perform various actions, such as destroying enemies and obstacles, changing the character's direction, and affecting the environment. Luigi is at the end of a level, where he can remove the object from a character's head. At the end of each world, Wanda must fight Wario as he rides in his Bulldog.
