Bloomsday, named Scumflower in the PAL version, is the fourth boss of Jiggle Jungle in Wario Land: Shake It!.

Physical description

Bloomsday resembles a dark potted flower with dark magenta patterned petals and dark purple stems, four spiked devil-like horns around its face, green eyes and black rim. It sits on a dark pot.

Battle

Bloomsday appears on a level named Bloomsday's Blowout. It takes place in the jungle at nighttime.

Bloomsday appears in the pot dropped from the sky, grows like a pure green stem, then turns dark into its own shape. It tries to vacuum Wario but a creature bumps his head. Then he tries to push Wario off but Wario was still on the same spot.

Bloomsday will throw Wario's enemies on the ground. Bloomsday is invulnerable with Wario's ramming, unless throwing enemies at him. As a result, he nearly topples over, so Wario should ram the pot to the end of the water.

After finished off, Bloomsday flaps his hands like wings, then faster. However, as a result, Bloomsday drowns in the water.

Behind the scenes

Etymology

"Bloomsday" the American name comes from a word, "doomsday," a synonym for "armageddon,' and "bloom," the word used for flowers growing.

"Scumflower," the European name, is a portmanteau of "sunflower" and "scum."

Trivia

  • Despite Bloomsday holding a rock in its artwork, the rock was never used during his battle against Wario.
  • The game's file has unused sprites of him jumping and himself turning around which could make it difficult to ram Bloomsday.
