Since Gollux is a giant, it must be defeated by attacking multiple parts. The head is the last target. You must be in a party of 1-6 people in order to fight Gollux, and each player has a Death Count of 5; if all players reach 0 lives, then the battle will end and everyone will be kicked out. The battle has a time limit of 30 minutes. In most maps, the player must defeat all monsters to access the next area. In some areas, Gollux will try to stun the player using its arms or with falling stalactites. The player must attack all the weak points (left shoulder, right shoulder, and Abdomen) for the head to be weakened. The head's difficulty will change depending on how many and which parts the player destroyed; it will be weaker the more parts you destroy, and it will have different attacks. In all difficulties, Corrupted Veilstones will spawn through portals at both ends of the map that move towards the center. After the first mob reaches the middle. all characters will receive a debuff that increases the amount of damage taken from Gollux's attacks (excluding % HP attacks) and blocks the player from re-entering the map. When the debuff counter reaches 5, all players instantly die.
The Abdomen is the first part encountered if the player decides to take the path through any leg. The fight against the Abdomen consists of binding roots that appear in the marked spots, which will Petrify the player if caught; tap the left and right arrow keys repeatedly to avoid dying. The Abdomen can cast a toxic cloud of purple gas that deals 50% HP damage and stuns. It can also cast toxic orange gas that causes seduction, which will force players to walk towards it, instantly killing them on contact and healing the Abdomen by 10% HP. Corrupted Veilstones will also appear on both ends of the map that act similarly to the ones in the head with the same effects, but will move much slower.
Both shoulders can be accessed from the Heart Chamber or through the alternative paths at the beginning of the raid. The Left and Right shoulders act exactly the same way and have the same attacks. The shoulders both have an implosion attack and can also spawn Conjured Veilpreys when threatened, rendering the shoulder invincible until the mobs are defeated. The Shoulder will increase its defense with branches after its health goes below 50% and use deadlier attacks.
The battle against the Head itself consists of three forms. The first form, the jaw, has a stun attack that deals 50% HP damage identical to the one used by the Abdomen and it's the only permanent attack present at all difficulties on the head. Gollux also has an attack where he sucks in air, casting the same seduction effect as the Abdomen's toxic orange gas and healing Gollux by 10% HP if the player touches the jaw; this skill is available only when the Abdomen hasn't been defeated. Gollux will also continue to use its arms in the fight against the head only that they also insta-kill any character it crushes. This skill is only available when at least one arm is still alive. After defeating the jaw, two platforms will appear above and the player will now face the eyes. The eyes can cast a bomb which reverses a player's direction keys and explodes after 10 seconds, dealing 99% HP damage. It can also cast various AOEs for smaller damage and can create shockwaves when any players are on the bottom of the map. Lastly, he can continue to use his arms, even when players are on the higher platforms. After defeating the eyes, a platform will appear above and the player will finally face the jewel on Gollux's forehead. The jewel also has the same explosion attack, but it is much weaker. The only difference is that the player is now further away from the ground, which means it will take more time for the player to defeat the mobs there and come back to fight the jewel.
Once defeated, the player can purify the heart and receive drops, which also scale to the difficulty.

Gollux is arguably the largest boss in Maplestory, and one of the largest creatures (canonically) in the game, alongside Stone Colossus and Hekaton.
Despite having more than 3 levels of difficulty, in the Boss tab it's featured as a one-difficulty Boss due to how its weak points work..
Gollux is made mainly out of wood, but his limbs are mostly stone.
The player can fall from Gollux's Body when fighting the Shoulders.
Gollux consists of the most maps / parts of any Boss, featuring a total of 6 mini-bosses (Abdomen, Left and Right Shoulder, Mouth, Eyes, and Jewel) and more than 15 maps, most of them requiring the player to defeat mobs to move on.
