Hust Hold was the home of the Tiste noble Hust,[1] or House of Hustain,[2] family in Kurald Galain. It was located on the western shore of the Dorssan Ryl northwest of Kharkanas. Directly to the south were the Old Forest and The Forgings. Dreth Hold was upriver to the northwest and Vanut Hold was downriver to the southeast.
The Hust family operated mines staffed by prisoners in the mountains of their southwestern holdings. From the ore mined there came the family's legendary Hust swords. During the Forulkan War, Kurald Galain's enemies had attempted to sieze the mines, and the Hust family had equipped the southern Bordersword defenders with Hust swords leading to the formation of the Hust Legion.[3]
